Horsemanship principles are based on horse psychology and natural behavior. Good Horsemanship requires a rider to control the animal's direction, gait, and speed with maximum effectiveness and minimum effort. Understanding horse behavior and knowing how horses think, feel and behave is essential for building a safe and positive relationship with them.
Proper handling:
Learning how to lead, tie, groom, and pick up horse's feet are important skills for a horse handler to know.

Horse training refers to a variety of practices that teach horses to perform certain behaviors when commanded to do so by humans.
River's Equestrian does offer fundamental horse training, tune ups and behavior correction.

Equine Assisted Therapy dates back to the times when horses were used for therapeutic riding in ancient Greek literature. It uses Hippotherapy, a physical, occupational, and speech therapy that utilizes the natural gait and movement of a horse to provide motor and sensory input. Thus it can be used for patients with physical and mental disorders. There are several Life skills that a horse teaches better than a person.
Eva successfully completed a certification in Equine Assisted Therapy.
Meet Eva
Eva was born and raised in Germany. She fell in love with riding horses at the age of 3. At 5 years old then continued with Equestrian Vaulting for more than 6 years. At the age of 11 she was in the saddle from then on.
She finished college with 2 degrees - one in Equine Science, and one in Small Business Management.
She began breaking and starting young horses, doing a little bit of jumping and dressage - A form of riding performed in exhibition and competition, as well as an art sometimes pursued solely for the sake of mastery. Its purpose is to strengthen and supple the horse while maintaining a calm and attentive demeanor.
Eva came to the U.S. in 2001 and was introduced to Cutting Horses and found a new passion. While living in Oklahoma, she worked for a cutting horse trainer for several years. Upon her move to California, she became self-employed and was able to travel to horse shows across the country to work for several cutting horse trainers.
When Eva isn't on one of her horses, she is spending time with her children. Changes were necessary once children came, so the idea of River's Equestrian was born
